Beijing Declaration and the Protest Reformation of 1517-1648

At the end of the Fourth World Conference on Women on 15 September 1995, the UN adopted the Beijing Declaration. The resolution to promulgate a set of principles concerning gender equality. It is the Charter of the United Nations, as well as other international human rights instruments, that guarantee equal rights and inherent human dignity for women and men, as well as other principles
and purposes. Among these are the Convention on the Elimination of Discrimination from Women and the Convention on the Rights of the Child, as well as the Declaration on the Elimination of Violence against Women and the Declaration on the Right to Development.

Like such declaration about the equality, here is another revolution called the Protest reformation of 1517-1648. Martin Luther, a monk and teacher in Wittenberg, Germany, began the Protestant Reformation by publishing his 95 Theses, a document he called Disputation on the Power of Indulgences. In the document, he presented 95 ideas about Christianity for debate.

Declaration: What it includes?

1. During the Fourth World Conference on Women, we, the governments participating.

2. At the fifty-fifth anniversary of the founding of the United Nations in September 1995, the United Nations was gathered here in Beijing.

3. Committed to advancing the goals of equality, development, and peace for all women throughout the world.

4. Honoring the women who paved the way and inspired by the hope present in the world youth, recognizing the voices of women everywhere and taking note of their roles and circumstances.

5. acknowledge that women's status has progressed in some important respects in the past decade, but that progress has been uneven, inequalities between women and men persist, and major obstacles remain, with serious consequences for the well-being of all individuals.

6. Recognize that this situation is exacerbated by poverty, which affects the majority of the worlds population, particularly women and children, with both national and international roots.

7 – Commit unreservedly to overcoming these constraints and obstacles and therefore enhancing further the advancement and empowerment of women throughout the world, and agree that this requires urgent action in the spirit of determination, hope, cooperation, and solidarity, now and in the coming century.

Protest Reformation of 1517 1648: Know All About

Europe was swept by the Protestant Reformation in the 1500s, which was a time of religious reform. Due to differences in doctrine, many religious groups separated from the Roman Catholic Church, creating a branch of Christianity known as Protestantism.

Luther’s statements challenged the Catholic Church’s role as the intermediary between people and God, especially when it came to the indulgence system, which allowed people to purchase pardons for their sins. Luther argued that salvation is a gift from God given to those who believe, not something that can be bought or earned.

Luther’s objections to indulgences paved the way for other challenges to Catholic doctrine throughout Europe. A group called Anabaptists rejected the idea that infants should be baptized in favor of the notion that baptism should be reserved for adults, such as John Calvin in France and Huldrych Zwingli in Switzerland.

Nevertheless, the Bill of Rights explicitly forbids the establishment of religion and the prohibition of free exercise of it, which has also become an important part of American identity. Over 400 years in the making, this belief in personal empowerment and independence in religious matters, which has its roots in the Protestant Reformation has become an enduring part of American culture.
